One year ago today, Deftones bassist Chi Cheng passed away in Sacramento, CA. Today, the band has uploaded a track from Eros, the final Deftones album that included Cheng and was ultimately shelved due to his passing.
Frontman Chino Moreno decided to share “Smile” as a tribute to Cheng, an integral part of Deftones and one of its founding members. On Twitter, the vocalist stated, “Chi, We miss you today and everyday.” with a link to the track included which you can stream after the jump.
As for the fate of Eros, Moreno has commented in the past saying that “It will see the light of day. I just don’t know when.”
